Dr Louise Cooke

My expertise is in the study, conservation and sustainable management of cultural heritage.

I am a specialist in the conservation and presentation of earthen architecture (with a special interest in the interactions between ancient and modern, sustainable uses of this material) and conservation planning for cultural landscapes.

I have undertaken consultancy for archaeological heritage and conservation management Internationally and in the UK on a very wide range of projects, concerning different materials, chronologies and approaches, from very old buildings through to vast cultural landscapes.

I’m a lecturer at the University of York and direct our 2 postgraduate degrees in MA International Conservation Studies and MA Conservation of Historic Buildings.

This is an occasional blog about the work I’m doing and gives some links through to some of the other work going on in the conservation / heritage / earth building / landscape world.
